Fall 2025 Tryouts Information

Tryouts for the Texas A&M IHSA Equestrian Team will be held the weekend of September 13–14, 2025 at KMR Equestrian in Tomball, TX (24706 FM 2978 Tomball, TX 77375). Riders will be assigned a specific tryout time on one of those two days, so please keep the full weekend available.

To be eligible to try out, all prospective members must attend one mandatory informational meeting. These meetings will cover important details about the team, including requirements, expectations, competition format, time commitments, and financial responsibilities. Attendees will also complete the IHSA Placement Form at the meeting, which helps us determine the correct division for each rider.

If you are interested in being a social member, you will not attend tryouts, but you are welcome to come to the informationals!

Informational Meeting Options (attend one):

  • Sunday, August 24 from 4:00–5:00 PM
  • Sunday, September 7 from 3:00–4:00 PM

**The September 7th meeting will be held in Rudder Tower 504 on the Texas A&M campus.

Please make sure to arrive on time and bring any questions you may have. We’re excited to meet you!

Tryout Format:
Tryouts will be conducted in a lesson-style format, similar to how IHSA practices are run. Riders will be grouped and evaluated in flatwork and/or over fences depending on their placement level. Expect to swap horses during your tryout group, as this reflects IHSA’s catch-ride style. Specific times and group assignments will be emailed in advance.

Dress Code for Tryouts:

  • Tall boots
  • Tan or black breeches
  • Polo shirt or other fitted riding shirt (no tank tops)
  • Belt
  • Helmet (ASTM/SEI certified)
  • Gloves are optional

Please arrive prepared, dressed to ride, and with plenty of time to warm up and check in!

Physicals and Waivers

  • All riders must complete the Student Organization Waiver before participating in tryouts.

  • A completed physical exam is required in order to try out, and proof of the exam must be submitted. You’ll also need to submit a signed Liability Release.

  • If you’re unable to obtain a physical before tryouts, you may submit the Liability Release Without Physical instead.

All forms are linked further down this page. Please email all completed documents to aggieihsa@gmail.com.

Tryouts Payment

Payment is required upon arrival at tryouts.

The tryout fee is $30 for ALL prospective riders. Please be prepared to pay by cash, check, or online via Flywire. If paying by check, please make it payable to AggieEqIHSA.
