Who We Are

The Texas A&M IHSA Equestrian Team is a student-run organization dedicated to developing skilled, confident riders who compete with integrity and Aggie pride. Welcoming athletes of all experience levels, we provide opportunities to train in a supportive team environment while striving for excellence in the arena. To be on the competition team, riders must try out and are placed by experience level. As part of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association, we challenge ourselves against colleges across our region, honing our horsemanship, achieving competitive success, and proudly representing Texas A&M in every ride. In addition to our competitive team, we offer a social membership for those who want to be part of the equestrian community in a more relaxed capacity. Whether you're passionate about horses, looking to learn more, or simply seeking a supportive group of friends who share your interests, our social members enjoy team events, bonding opportunities, and a welcoming environment—no riding experience required.

Our mission is to cultivate excellence, Aggie Spirit, and sportsmanship through a shared passion for equestrian sport. We are dedicated to developing skilled, versatile riders while fostering strong bonds among teammates. We strive to embody integrity, inclusivity, and positivity—both in and out of the saddle—and to support each other's progress, celebrate achievements, and uphold the values of Texas A&M. 

The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) gives college riders the opportunity to compete within their region while training alongside teammates in their show division. IHSA makes riding accessible by eliminating the need for horse ownership and setting no minimum riding level — divisions range from Intro to Open, and riders are placed based on their prior experience. At competitions, host schools provide the horses, which are assigned through a live drawing. Riders use the host’s tack, and no schooling is allowed before entering the ring. This unique format ensures a level playing field and puts each athlete’s horsemanship to the test.
